A man who reportedly shot and killed his wife on Monday(31 October) has also died, according to local authorities.
50-year-old Kwaku Seidu reportedly shot his wife when a misunderstanding broke out over a disputed family land he attempted to sell.
One of the surviving victims is reported to have said that they kicked against the decision as they fear it could take a toll on their livelihoods.
“The man had two wives and have been leaving in their own home here in Tepa. They reported him to a local Zongo Chief of his decision to sell a cocoa farm. Feeling infuriated, a misunderstanding ensued. He hurriedly pulled out a gun and shot his wife”, narrated Frederick Nyamekye Assembly Member for the Bonsuaso electoral area at Tepa-Danyame in the Ahafo Ano North District.
The suspect who was rescued during an attack by an angry mob has also died.
“He was confirmed dead this [Tuesday] morning while receiving treatment at the hospital. The mob attempted to lynch him”, Nyamekye said adding: “For now his body has been sent to the morgue”.
The suspect until his death was a polling station Chairman for the ruling New Patriotic Party at Tepa Danyame. He was also a cocoa purchasing clerk.
Residents are still shocked and have been reeling over the incident.
