Ashantigold have suffered their first defeat in the Ghana Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The Miners, who were without a defeat in the opening four games of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League, succumbed to a 1-0 home defeat to’ Berekum Chelsea.
The host created a lot of openings in the first 45 minutes but failed to make good use of their earlier dominance in the match.
Both teams could not make the two goalkeepers work as strikers blew away chances that came their way as the first half ended with no goal to either side.
Seven minutes after recess, the home team’s goalkeeper Frank Boateng failed to grab a loose ball in the goal area and finisher Kofi Owusu made no mistake in making the most out of the Yellow and Blacks goalkeeper’s horrendous error to make it 1-0 to the visitors.
Ashantigold could not find their way back into the game as defenders of the away team remained solid to preserve their one goal advantage.
Abdul Anabila was shown the exit in the closing stages of the match with a clumsy tackle.
The game ended 1-0 to the visitors.
Chelsea are yet to taste a defeat in five games into the season with three away wins at the home of the three most successful clubs in Ghana beating Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko with same scoreline.
