Ashgold beat Nzema Kotoko to qualify for CAF Confederations Cup

Obuasi AshantiGold emerged as winners of the Tier II Special Competition after seeing off Nzema Kotoko at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium Sunday with a 1-0 victory over the Division One side.

Ghana Premier League side AshGold conquered Tier 1 Champions Asante Kotoko by 3-1 in the semi-finals while Nzema Kotoko walked over fellow Division One side Unistar Academy on penalties to reach the final.

Mark Agyekum put the Miners ahead on the 38th minute with a low strike to beat Nzema Kotoko goalkeeper Evans Quansah from 20 yards.

AshantiGold won the GFA’s Normalization Special Competition tier II trophy and also took home a cash prize of Ghc 150,000.

The Obuasi lads will represent Ghana in the CAF Confederation Cup for the 2019-20 season after their victory over Nzema Kotoko.
