Four persons have been arrested in connection with an attack on some members of the Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly.

The suspects were detained by the police on Friday morning as the service opens investigations into a case of assault following Thursday’s incident.

They were later admitted to bail after their statements were taken, reports the CNR.

They have also been asked to report to the Manhyia District Police Command on Monday, December 21, to assist investigations.

Thursday’s incident halted the Assembly’s end-of-year general meeting after the unidentified gang disrupted sittings.

The Assemblymembers had questioned the conduct of the Municipal Chief Executive, Alhaji Alidu Seidu after they were reportedly sidelined during a state-sponsored distribution of streetlights in the Municipality.

A free-for-all brawl later ensued as the well-built men engaged the Assemblymen in a heated verbal exchange.

Presiding Member at the Assembly, Matthew Amissah condemned the incident but denied claims of assault on his colleagues.

He blamed partisan politics for the confusion that broke out adding that his outfit will take steps to resolve the matter.
