The Ghana Police Service has said it will deal ruthlessly with troublemakers on Tuesday, December 16, 2019, when the district level and unit committee elections begin.
The Service has therefore cautioned voters and aspirants to stay away from any attempts to incite trouble in various electoral centres.
This caution was issued by the district commander of Jamestown police station, Superintendent Michael odame after one of the candidates in the Jamestown environs was attacked during a campaign session last week which led to varying degrees of injuries on some residents.
He said the police will do their best to ensure that the area is properly secured for the polls and will ensure that people whose conduct jeopardize peace or security in the area are properly dealt with.
“We as the police will ensure that the entire jurisdiction is properly patrolled and secured. We have sent a note of caution that whoever will want to foment trouble, we will let the laws of the country deal with that person.
“The police will ensure that anyone who tries to do anything including those who want to take the law into their own hands. We will ensure that such a thing does not happen. We want everybody to be law-abiding so that we have a peaceful election,” he told Citi FM.
