Ayew brothers, Partey start as CK Akonnor names line-up for Sao Tome and Principe clash

Ghana coach Charles Kwabla Akonnor has picked his favorite XI for the face São Tomé and Principe game in the final group game in Group C of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Ghana captain Andre Ayew, Crystal Palace striker Jordan Ayew and deputy captain and Arsenal midfielder , Thomas Partey have all been included in the team to face the bottom placed team today. 

With Ghana’s place safe and secured in next year’s Africa Cup of Nations tournament which will be hosted by Cameroon after the 1-1 draw against South Africa last Thursday in Johannesburg, many football fans were expecting some new faces in the team but the gaffer chose to play his European based players who are well known instead of giving some fresh faces the chance to shine. 

Asante Kotoko SC goalkeeper Razak Abalora and defender Ishmael Ganiu are the only home-based players to make into the lineup. 

Osman Bukari of Gent gets his first start for the Black Stars after coming from bench to make his debut against South Africa last Thursday.

The Ghana – Sao Tome and Principe match today will be played behind closed doors at the Accra Sports Stadium today with the game kicking off at 4pm

The AFCON qualifier will be telecasted live on GTV Sports Plus.
