Ghana skipper Andre Ayew is aiming to be fully fit as he seeks to carry Swansea City on his shoulders.

Despite joining his colleagues just one week to the end of the preseason, Ayew was the saviour on Tuesday scoring twice as Swansea City came from behind to beat Northampton Town 3-1 in the Carabao Cup.

Ayew insists he has some catching up to do and he wants to attain full fitness.

“A lot of things have been said, but for me, what’s important is to work hard, try to get to full fitness and, if I’m here to go for it.”

The left-footed attacker is expected to start tomorrow when Swansea host Preston at the Liberty Stadium at lunchtime.
