Bad News: Ghana’s Inaki Williams pulls out of Black Stars AFCON qualifier against Madagascar

Spanish La Liga side Athletic Bilbao striker Inaki Williams has pulled out of the Black Stars team for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar in Antananarivo.

The attacker has announced that he will not be available for selection on June 18 in Antananarivo when Ghana takes on Madagascar in the penultimate game of the qualifiers.

In a statement from the player on Monday, June 5, he said he is unable to play for the national team due to an injury.

“Since a few weeks I’ve been playing with pain in my right knee. I decided to play until the end of the season, but after having spoken to the medical services, we’ve decided to stop and solve the problem to be 100% for the preseason.

“This wasn’t an easy decision to make because I won’t be able to be with my national team, Ghana the next meeting,” Inaki Williams announced.

The Black Stars striker added, “I want to say that I am fully committed and I will come back with the Black Stars if the coach deems it appropriate next calls.

“Thank you for your support.”

Ghana will play away to Madagascar on June 18.
