Human skeletons in polythene bags have been discovered in large quantities in a valley along Akuapem Larteh and Ayikuma road in the Eastern region of Ghana.
According to local police, the human parts were found by a motorcyclist.
“An informant reported that he saw some human skeletal remains in the valley. So Police accompanied him to the scene about 150 meters away in a nearby bush where some old human skeletal remains were found in a refuse dump. Upon observation and inspection, the remains were in sacks and polythene bags,” the Akropong District Police Commander, Superintendent Stephen Tetteh, told Accra network Starr FM.
The commander is suspecting the skeletons were exhumed and dumped by estate developers building in old cemeteries or grave looters.
“Preliminary investigations suggest it was dumped there for quite sometime. It could not be ruled out that the remains were dumped by grave looters,” he was further quoted.
Meanwhile, the police have allayed fears of locals, adding investigations are ongoing to arrive at a conclusion.
