The Achimota Golf Club hosted the IBB International Golf Club of Nigeria to an Independence Day Golf Tournament at the Achimota Golf Course.
The tournament, which was sponsored by Bank of Africa, saw the Ghanaian team rival their Nigerian counterparts in a fun-filled competition. Ghana dominated on both days of the competition by scoring 20.5 against Nigeria’s 12.5 on Day 1 and 33.5 against Nigeria’s 30.5 on Day 2.
Ghana emerged overall winners with a score of 54 points.
Kwaku Amoafo Yeboah, the captain of the AGC applauded all the golfers for participating in the competition and reinforced the need to promote golf in the country. He also commended Bank of Africa for the support and asked that the Bank does more of such for sports in general.
Executive Head, Treasury of Bank of Africa, Mrs. Akofa Dakwa, reiterated that the bank sees sports as a good avenue to promote the general well-being of society and as such has made it one of the key pillars of its Corporate Social Responsibility.
The Bank used the opportunity to inform all participants gathered of its strategic intention to position itself as The Trade Bank in Ghana.
She added that “our presence in 32 countries across four continents makes Bank of Africa the ideal Bank for all International Trade Businesses.”
The captain of the IBB thanked the host nation Ghana and mentioned that they were looking forward to receiving the Ghanaian team in Abuja in October/November for the Nigerian Independence Celebration tournament.
