The Bank of Ghana reported a loss of GH₵10.50 billion for the financial year ending in 2023. This significant loss was primarily attributed to a sharp rise in total interest expenses related to the Central Bank’s open market operations.
During the review period, these expenses surged by GH₵6.7 billion. The Bank explained that this increase was necessary to manage liquidity in the financial system.
