Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has called on African leaders and governments to focus on empowering citizens through education, quality healthcare, and promoting individual freedoms.

In a Facebook post following his role as Special Guest at the Democratic Union of Africa (DUA) Annual Forum in Accra, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of these measures for improving general well-being and fostering economic development.

He stressed that advancing democracy and the rule of law are crucial for creating an environment where individual freedoms are protected, innovation is encouraged, and economic activities can thrive. “I urged African leaders and governments to work towards citizen empowerment through education, quality healthcare, promotion of free enterprise and individual liberties, digitalization for transparent and efficient governance, and closer cooperation,” Dr. Bawumia said.

He concluded by expressing his vision for the continent, stating, “Together, we can make democracy the byword in Africa.”
