Chiefs and people of Effiduase in the Sekyere East District of the Ashanti Region have enstooled the Vice-President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as Nkorakorahene (Restoration Chief).
Under the stool name, “Nana Oseadeeyo”, it is in recognition for a fulfilled promise to fix a 5km Effiduase town roads which had seen no facelift since independence.
The honour was conferred on Dr. Bawumia at Effiduase on Tuesday, October 13, at a mini durbar organized by the chiefs, in conjunction with the Muslim community, as part of the Vice-President’s tour of the Ashanti Region.
Chiefs elated
Speaking on behalf of the chiefs, before the commissioning of the project, the Effiduasehene, Nana Adu Ameyaw II, thanked the Vice President and the government for the gesture describing the intervention as timely.
“Most of the major access routes leading to our farmlands have been fixed. We are grateful to you”, Nana Ameyaw II was quoted by Wontumi FM as saying.
Appreciation
Dr. Bawumia expressed his appreciation to the chiefs and people and pledged to work even harder to help fulfill President Akufo-Addo’s vision for the nation.
He also used the occasion to appeal to residents of the Effiduase/Asokore Constituency to vote massively for President Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate, Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie.
