Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has pledged to complete the stalled National Cathedral project if he is elected president.
He emphasized that public funds have already been invested in the construction of the edifice, highlighting the importance of seeing the project through to completion.
The National Cathedral has been a source of controversy, initially perceived as a personal initiative by President Akufo-Addo, who promised to build it as a pledge to God before taking office. However, it was later revealed that over GHC 339 million in state funds had been allocated to the project.
Dr. Bawumia stated, “Public funds have been invested in it. One should have an engagement with churches and stakeholders to decide on how to complete the project. It is an important issue.”
