Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, has strongly criticized the record of his main opponent in the upcoming December 7 presidential election, John Dramani Mahama. During his first “Meet the Press” session in Accra on August 25, Dr. Bawumia took aim at Mr. Mahama’s tenure as president.
“We all don’t have short memories. Mahama left an abysmal record,” Dr. Bawumia stated, recalling the challenges faced under Mahama’s administration.
“We endured *dumsor* (prolonged power outages), people died because of *dumsor*. The national ambulance service was almost dead, and unemployment was high,” he emphasized.
Dr. Bawumia’s remarks also referenced a statement made by Mr. Mahama during his time in office, where he suggested that “Ghanaians have short memory” in response to ongoing complaints about the state of the economy.
