German Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen are celebrating the birthday of Ghana’s first President Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

The late leader would have been 109 years today (September 21) if he was to be alive and Die Merkself are joining in the celebrations.

The day of his birth is a public holiday in Ghana.

“Happy Kwame Nkrumah day,” the club posted a picture of three black players and a Ghana flag on Twitter.

Leverkusen current Under-14 coach is former Ghana Black Starlets skipper Sebastian Barnes.
