Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan is unhappy with the attitude of some of the players of Ghana’s Black Meteors team following their attitude on the field of play.
He believes some of the players of the Black Meteors team think they are bigger than the whole team, something he believes is not good for modern football.
According to Gyan, some of the players of the Black Meteors team feel they are bigger than the whole team which he believes contributed to the team’s elimination.
“What I saw in this Black meteors team is some players think they are bigger than the whole team. Small hype and fame ? SHM.”
Gyan says what makes a player is your ability to track back to help the team when not in possession of the ball as he says football is not only about one player and what you do with the ball.
The Ghana legend revealed that he saw some players who thought they could play alone and says it’s about time we wake from our slumber.
Modern football is not about only what you do with the ball. It’s about what you do without the ball. I see players thinking the can play alone. It’s about time we wake up and defend when we lose the ball. SMH”, he Tweeted.
Gyan was part of the last Olympic team from Ghana to play at the FIFA Olympic games in Greece, Athens in 2004 and sounded disappointed after Black Meteors exit from the 2023 CAF U-23 Championship in Morocco.
He scored six goals and three World Cup tournament which is the highest by any African player in the history of the tournament and is Ghana’s all time top scorer with 51 goals in 109 appearances.
