Member of Parliament for Atiwa East and Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, Abena Osei-Asare has facilitated the distribution of mathematical sets and pens to all 1,614 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in her constituency.

This initiative, conducted on her behalf by the District Chief Executive (DCE), the District Director of Education, and the Constituency Executives over the weekend is aimed at equipping the students as they sit their first external examination starting Monday (8 July).

“I encouraged all BECE candidates in Atiwa East Constituency to go out and make us proud as success awaits you all. I wish all the 2024 BECE candidates the best of luck in their examinations.”

This philanthropic effort is not a first for the MP, who has consistently supported BECE candidates in her constituency with similar distributions over the years. Her dedication to the educational development of Atiwa East is evident in her continued commitment to providing essential examination materials.

“This support from Hon. Abena Osei-Asare is crucial in ensuring our students are well-prepared and motivated to excel in their exams. Her unwavering dedication to education in Atiwa East is commendable”, a teacher in one of the schools visited told dailymailgh.com.

“Receiving these math sets and pens gives us confidence and shows that our leaders believe in us. We are motivated to do our best in the exams”, one of the students said.

The Basic Education Certificate Examination is supervised by the West African Examination Council (WAEC). Over 59,000 candidates are expected to sit the examination countrywide.

WAEC confirms all is set for the five-day period. The Council has warned teachers and students against all forms of examination malpractices.
