Controversial Ghanaian Pastor, Bishop Daniel Obinim, has been released after spending nearly 72 hours in police custody.
The founder of the International God’s Way Church was behind bars after he failed to meet a ¢100,000 bail requirement by an Accra Magistrate Court.
He had been arrested and charged for publication of false information and forgery of documents.
While in custody, Obinim was on admission at the Police Hospital for treatment and was discharged on Friday.
Obinim is expected to reappear in court on June 1, 2020, while being investigated for other offences levelled against him.
The police also clarified that this arrest has nothing to do with a video that was circulating on social media on Tuesday, May 19, 2020.
Multiple reports had suggested that his arrest is also linked with an existing feud between he and Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong.
Reports were rife the legislator had reported Obinim to the police but that however, turned out to be false, according to the police CID.
