An 11-year-old boy met his untimely death while trying to save a colleague from a river near Asebi, a semi-urban community in the Asokore-Mampong Municipality.
The deceased and three others were searching for another victim who is thought to have fallen into the body of the Sisan River while swimming with his friends on Thursday.
Assemblyman for Asokore-Mampong electoral area, George Ntim, confirmed the incident to Dailymailgh.com.
He said the incident happened when the deceased had closed from school on vacation day.
He was confirmed dead by medics of a health facility nearby.
Police have since conveyed the body to the morgue pending autopsy.
The deceased is a pupil of Asokore Mampong D/A Primary School.
Investigations have begun.
