Ghana’s Black Stars have been drawn against rivals Nigeria in the final round of qualifiers for the Qatar 2022 World Cup to be played in March.
The Black Stars are in search of a fourth qualification for FIFA World Cup since making their debut in 2006 in Germany and must overcome their old foes for a place at the Mundial later this year.
Ghana were in the same group as Ethiopia, South Africa and Zimbabwe in group G during the qualifiers and topped the group to make it to the playoffs.
Having had their worse AFCON tournament experience following a group stage exit, the Black Stars will be hoping to make the 2022 World Cup to console the hearts of many Ghanaian following the exit.
The Black Stars missed out on the last edition in 2018 World Cup in Russia after a turbulent domestic troubles amongst the top hierarchy of football, FIFA and the Government of Ghana that saw the ban on former FA chief Kwesi Nyantakyi.
With the two West African side paired against each other, both will fancy their chances of making the World Cup in Qatar when they meet in March.
