The body of a 21-year-old young lady said to have drowned at Bremang New York in the Suame Municipality of the Ashanti Region has been recovered from floodwater, the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has confirmed.
The deceased Francisca Amoah Serwaa, a Junior High School student was said to have gone missing after she was reportedly swept away in floodwaters during a downpour on Wednesday (March 8), triggering a rescue mission.
Emergency services were however called to a stretch of the Owabi River at Akropong Esaase in the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipality after inhabitants discovered her body on Sunday (March 12). She was declared dead by officers at the scene.
NADMO confirms that her family have been informed but formal identification is yet to have taken place. The body has since been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) morgue for preservation and autopsy.
