A Ghanaian policeman caught taking bribe from a civilian in a criminal case has been detained, the Ghana Police Service on Tuesday announced.
Sergeant Augustine Owusu Ansah is facing corruption related charges having been identified in a video negotiating payment and receiving money in a cyber-crime and narcotic case from a suspect at a drinking spot.
The central regional police CID is investigating the case involving the Assin Fosu officer, a statement signed by the regional spokesperson of the police DSP Irene Oppong said.
“The police is assuring the general public that painstaking investigations would be conducted to bring all persons involved to book,” the statement added.
