Bulgaria Football Federation have approached me for Nationality Switch’ – Ghana’s Bernard Tekpetey

PFC Ludogorets Razgrad 1945 attacker Bernard Tekpetey says the Bulgarian football federation has approached him about switching nationality from Ghana to represent Bulgaria.

The attacker has been in a devastating form in the Bulgarian First Professional League since his transfer from Bundesliga side FC Schalke 04 prompting the the European country to change his nationality.

According to him, the Federation of Football in Bulgaria has had a thorough discussions with him but refused because of his love for Ghana.

“Yes, we have discussed that but I told them to wait until after the world cup, but once am from Ghana, I would like to play for Ghana,” he confirmed to Sompa Sports.

The Ghanaian forward, Bernard Tekpetey was recently named the Best Foreigner in the Bulgarian First Professional League for the year 2022.

Tekpetey again was the runner up to Bulgaria’s national team captain, Despodov as the best striker in the league.

The 25-year-old played 24 League games scoring 10 goals for the Green and Whites Eagles in the Bulgarian top-flight helping them to win the league title for a 10th consecutive time.

He has already scored eight goals and provided four assists this season in 17 League games for Ludogorets Razgrad 1945 in the Bulgarian First Professional League.
