Hon. Richmond Koduah is DCE for Upper Denkyira West

Some inhabitants of Diaso have accused the District Chief Executive for Upper Denkyira West of fuelling tensions in the Central Region town.

According to the aggrieved residents, the posture of Hon. Richmond Koduah threatens the security of the community, which has remained unsettled due to chieftaincy disputes.

They alleged that Koduah, who is the Chairman of the District Security Council is using his office to destabilize the community as he has further declared his stance for one of the feuding factions.

“How can a DCE be involved in such a matter that has the potential to wreck the town?” quizzed a community member who wanted to remain anonymous. It is time the DCE is called to order because tensions are high in this community.”

He [the DCE] and his father are not agents of development. They have teamed up to cripple us and nobody is talking about this. This is a serious situation we find ourselves in this community” another said.

Ethnic tensions in Diaso had often led to violent clashes that resulted in deaths. Sources say the situation has stalled development in the town including the construction of shops at the Diaso Market.

The residents are appealing to the Ministry of Local government and Decentralization and by extension the office of the President for an urgent intervention to avert what they have described as a looming threat to national security.

The DCE was however not available for comments at the time of filing this report.
