Nsoatreman FC had an excellent start in the CAF Confederation Cup, winning 3-0 against Chadian club Elect Sport on Sunday.
Playing at the Accra Sports Stadium, the Ghana FA Cup champions showed strength and determination right from the start. Abdul Rahman scored the first goal 31 minutes into the match, followed by a second goal just two minutes later from former Ghana U20 winger Kwabena Adu Meider.
In the second half, Elect Sport’s troubles increased when their goalkeeper, Mahamat Bechir, was sent off in the 54th minute for handling the ball outside the penalty area. Nsoatreman FC took advantage of this and scored a third goal to secure their dominant win.
Goalkeeper Daniel Afadzewu played a key role in maintaining the clean sheet, making three important saves in the final 20 minutes.
With this strong victory, Nsoatreman FC will go into the return leg in N’Djamena on August 24, 2024, with a significant advantage. The overall winner of the two matches will advance to the second round of the preliminary stage, getting closer to the group stages of the tournament.
