Ghana’s Black Meteors defeated Mali on Thursday night in the CAF Under-23 Cup of Nations to secure a place in the semi-final.
Ghana started the game very poorly and allowed Mali to dominate the first 45 minutes which ended goalless.
Coach Ibrahim Tanko made his first change after the break by replacing attacker Reuben Polley with Kwabena Owusu.
The substitute gave Ghana the lead 16 minutes from full time with a powerful header following a tailored cross from right back Kingsley Fobi.
The sizzling attacker added to Ghana’s tally on the 85th minute to put Ghana through to the semi-final after Cameroon were defeated by host nation Egypt by 2-1 in the other group A game.
