Cagliari midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana has received his first call-up to the Black Stars for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic, according to 3Sports.

Sulemana began his European career in 2019, joining Atalanta’s youth team from Sunyani after impressing during several trials. However, a significant injury in 2021 led Atalanta to release him, prompting a move to Hellas Verona.

The defensive midfielder was promoted to Verona’s senior team the following year, making his debut in October in a 2-1 loss to Salernitana.

In July 2023, the 21-year-old transferred to Cagliari, where he has made 14 Serie A appearances and scored two goals.

Ghana will face Mali on June 6 and the Central African Republic on June 10. Otto Addo’s team currently sits fourth in their group, with three points from two matches.

Sulemana’s inclusion in the squad highlights Addo’s trust in young talent, as evidenced by the opportunities given to Forson Amankwah and Ibrahim Osman. Nevertheless, Sulemana will need to compete for his place in the lineup against established midfielders such as Abdul Salis Samed and Baba Iddrisu.
