Hon. Joseph Kpemka, Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), is facing allegations of abuse of office and violations of the company’s Employee Code of Conduct on political activities.
The former Deputy Attorney General under the erstwhile Akufo-Addo administration is accused of diverting an operational Toyota Hilux vehicle, with registration number GM 2041-12, for his parliamentary campaign activities.
The vehicle, which was designated for the Bolga Depot’s daily operations, was reportedly unavailable during this time, causing disruptions to the depot’s functions.
BOST’s Employee Code of Conduct explicitly prohibits the use of company resources, including vehicles, for political purposes. Section 3.16 of the code emphasizes that employees must not use their positions or company assets to support political campaigns and that such engagements should occur outside working hours and off company premises.
Reports indicate that Hon. Kpemka’s actions directly contravened these rules, leaving the Bolga Depot unable to meet its operational demands. When the vehicle was eventually returned to the Savelugu Booster Station by Hon. Kpemka’s driver, it was reportedly in poor condition, raising additional concerns about accountability and the misuse of public resources.
The incident has sparked widespread criticism, with calls for Hon. Kpemka and the Managing Director of BOST to step down. Critics argue that such misuse of public assets undermines trust in state institutions and erodes the integrity of leadership.
BOST’s management has not yet commented on the allegations. Efforts to get Mr Kpemka to respond to these allegations have been unsuccessful.
