Residents in the Ashanti Region town of Juaben received an outpouring of generosity from the Calvary Charismatic Center (CCC) on Wednesday (24 October) as they shopped freely for essential household items at the Adu Boahen Square.
The event, organised by CCC’s volunteers and staff, featured various items such as clothes, school uniforms, shoes, toiletries, and snacks for families, schoolchildren, and residents of all ages.
Volunteers ensured the distribution was smooth, handing out tickets to patrons, which allowed each person to pick a limited number of items.
Nursing mothers were given priority, choosing items like baby clothes, toiletries, and detergents, while men and women each received tickets specifying items like jackets, ties, or dresses to prevent excess and ensure everyone had an opportunity.
CCC’s Resident Pastor, Reverend Joshua Obeng, explained the motivation behind the event, highlighting the church’s commitment to practical expressions of faith through their Charity Project.
“As a church, we believe in following the teachings of Christ thoroughly,” he said. “For us, actions matter more than mere words, which is why we are providing these items to the people of Juaben.”
The charity event is part of CCC’s larger mission in Juaben, which has included an evangelism drive since October 1 and will culminate in the “Juaben for Christ Crusade” on Thursday and Friday.
Reverend Obeng shared that the crusade is aimed at creating lasting positive impacts in Juaben, including plans to establish churches, training centers, and schools to serve the community’s educational needs.
“Our aim as a church is to minister to the needs of the people,” Rev. Obeng added. “We are using our Juaben for Christ Crusade to spread the teachings of the Bible and to help the people grow in their faith.”
CCC’s holistic approach to outreach has also extended to donations to the Juaben Government Hospital, underscoring their belief in addressing both spiritual and physical needs in the communities they serve.
