The Mambas of Mozambique kicked The Knights of Libya out of the 2022 CAF Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament in Algeria.
Mozambique came from a goal down to beat the Libyans 3-2 to put themselves in a good position to qualify from the Group to the next stage of the competition.
Francisco Muchanga Chico scored an own goal in the opening half of the match to put the Libya team 1-0 before the break.
In the second half of the match at the Nelson Mandela Stadium, Algiers, Melque Melito rose to the occasion and grabbed the equalizer for the Mozambique team to make it 1-1 with a fine goal.
Francisco Jose handed Mozambique a second goal of the match to turn the game on its head and put his team in the lead for the first time in the game.
Few minutes later Pachoio Lau King added the third goal for Mozambique to make it 3-1 with just five minutes to the end of the match.
Mohamed Saltou Anis got one back for the Libyans through a defensive error by the Mozambique goalkeeper and the North Africans nearly got an equalizer but failed to take their last-gasp opportunity.
Libya have lost two games and are therefore out of the 2022 CHAN tournament ongoing in Algeria with Mozambique in need of just a point in their final game against Algeria after getting four points from two matches.
