The Lions of Teranga from Senegal beat their West African Brothers,Mauritania to book a place in the semi-final of the 2022 CHAN tournament ongoing in Algeria.

The Senegalese scored a spot kick in the first half of the match to win the tie to reach the last four of the CAF Africa Nations Championship on Friday evening.

The opening minutes of the match saw the Mauritanians team dominating the game with some eye-catching display against the Lions of Teranga team.

Nonetheless, the minnows failed to make it count as they blew away all the good opportunities that came their way.

Senegal were awarded a spot kick after 34 minutes which was nearly converted by Lamine Camara to put the Lions of Teranga in the lead.

Mauritania continued with great possession of the ball and dominated the game throughout the second 45 minutes of the frenetic encounter.

Being anxious to get back into the game made the Mauritanians impatient in front of goal and were unable to make the right decision at the right time as individualism took over the team.

The game ended 1-0 to Senegal.

The TTeranga Lions will face winner of the game between Madagascar and Mozambique on Tuesday.
