New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Alan Kyerematen has paid a courtesy call on the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, ahead of the party’s presidential elections.
Mr Kyerematen used the occasion to eulogise the respected Muslim cleric for his dedication and love for Ghana.
“I thanked him for his constant support and prayers throughout my political journey and formally informed him of my decision to contest the NPP presidential primaries and when successful, contest the 2024 general election on the ticket of the NPP’, Mr Kyerematen said in a Facebook post on Friday (27 January 2023)”.
“His Eminence, the Chief Imam, thanked me for the visit and wished me well in my endeavours”, he added.
Meeting with Clergy
Mr Kyerematen has also been meeting religious leaders where he pledged to work closely with them if given the nod to lead the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 elections.
Kyerematen made the pledge at a breakfast meeting with the leaders of the Christian community in Accra on Tuesday.
The former Trade Minister expressed gratitude to religious leaders and asked for their support ahead of the party’s primaries to elect a flagbearer.
NPP Decides
Mr Kyerematen resigned in January as the country’s Trade Minister to pursue his presidential ambition. The ruling party is yet to settle on a date to hold the primaries.
