The Ghana NGO Coalition on the Rights of the Child (GNCRC) has expressed disappointment about the incident of “baby harvesting and child trafficking” at some health facilities in Accra.
The Coalition has, therefore, urged institutions responsible for ensuring justice to act swiftly without fear or favour to ensure that the victims and their families get justice.
In a statement signed by its National President, Mr Philip Bosomtwi Amoah, it called on the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection to form a task force to further investigate the matter.
This, the Coalition explained, will help to unravel the truth surrounding the incident faster to endure justice is served.
Additionally, it called on the government to prioritise logistics and budgetary allocation for Child Protection and Child Rights to enable all children related institutions to function well.
The statement commended the Ghana Police Service, EOCO and the Medical and Dental Council for the collaboration which has led to the arrest of some perpetrators.
They encouraged expectant mothers and their families to be vigilant at the hospitals and clinics.https://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/pagead/ads?guci=2.1.0.4.2.2.0.0&gdpr=0&client=ca-pub-2500680891621702&output=html&h=250&slotname=7074810865&adk=2626372942&adf=1112791028&pi=t.ma~as.7074810865&w=300&fwrn=7&lmt=1611551524&psa=1&format=300×250&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.myjoyonline.com%2Fchild-rights-coalition-seeks-justice-for-baby-theft-victims%2F&flash=0&wgl=1&dt=1611551523358&bpp=38&bdt=1206&idt=1025&shv=r20210120&cbv=r20190131&ptt=9&saldr=aa&abxe=1&cookie=ID%3D7a8a643e08bca134-22ff22a5aea6002f%3AT%3D1611551418%3ART%3D1611551418%3AS%3DALNI_MY3gdGA2RIYEFHeeB5IdxvKNn6QGw&correlator=8654723333800&frm=20&pv=2&ga_vid=1306281825.1607762085&ga_sid=1611551524&ga_hid=1387065820&ga_fc=0&u_tz=0&u_his=27&u_java=0&u_h=800&u_w=360&u_ah=800&u_aw=360&u_cd=24&u_nplug=0&u_nmime=0&adx=30&ady=2185&biw=360&bih=664&scr_x=0&scr_y=0&eid=182982100%2C182982300%2C21068769%2C21066819%2C21066973&oid=3&pvsid=3103117428104482&pem=857&ref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.myjoyonline.com%2F&rx=0&eae=0&fc=896&brdim=0%2C0%2C0%2C0%2C360%2C0%2C360%2C664%2C360%2C664&vis=1&rsz=M%7C%7CoeEbr%7C&abl=CS&pfx=0&fu=8192&bc=31&ifi=1&uci=a!1&btvi=1&fsb=1&xpc=rVpFzjfFy7&p=https%3A//www.myjoyonline.com&dtd=1091
