The Chairman of the Council of State, Edward Doe Adjaho, has assured President John Dramani Mahama of the council’s dedication to strengthening governance and providing essential advisory support.

His remarks came after President Mahama officially swore in a 31-member advisory body on Tuesday, February 18. The council, which includes both elected and appointed members, was constituted following elections held on February 11 and 17.

Speaking at the ceremony, Doe Adjaho dismissed suggestions that the Council of State should be abolished, emphasizing its crucial role in national development.

“I want to assure you on behalf of the Council of State that we will work as a team, we will support you in the governance structure in the discharge of our constitutional and statutory responsibilities,” he stated.

Highlighting the wealth of experience among council members, he expressed confidence in their ability to make significant contributions to governance.

“It is true that many have questioned the relevance of the Council of State, some have even called for its abolition. But we want to assure you that this Council of State will be a Council of difference. Mr President, you can count on us day and night, we shall respond,” he affirmed.

The newly inaugurated Council of State is expected to serve as a key advisory body, offering strategic counsel to the presidency on national issues.
