The president of the National House of Chiefs, Togbe Afede XIV, has called on traditional authorities to seek the face of God as Ghana tackles the deadly Covid-19 pandemic.

Togbe Afede XIV in a statement has thus encouraged traditional authorities to lead special traditional prayers and rites to purify their communities.

Christians across Ghana today [Wednesday], observed a national day of prayer and fasting to seek divine intervention in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak.

President Akufo-Addo in a televised address charged Ghanaians to go down on their knees for God to have mercy on a country of 30 million people as the pandemic spreads across the globe.

Ghana has been hit with 68 cases of the novel Covid-19 disease with three deaths.

In a statement released on Wednesday, however, the President of the National House of Chiefs wants traditional authorities to hold a similar event to deliver the country from any impending calamity.

While pledging its unflinching support for government efforts to containing the spread of the coronavirus, the House also encouraged every Ghanaian to follow the protocols and measures announced by government to protect themselves and stop the
pandemic.
