Day-old baby found alive in a school’s pit-latrine

A day-old baby has been found alive in a pit-toilet in a school at Atebubu in the Atebubu-Amantin District of the Bono East region Thursday.

Briefing the media, the assemblyman for the Atebubu-Zongo electoral area, Takiyudeen Issa, said at about 4am the security man of the English-Arabic school reported to him that he has heard the cry of a baby from the school’s pit-toilet.

Issa said they reported the development to a teacher of the school.

When they got to the pit-toilet, the assemblyman stated, they found the baby wrapped in polythene. Immediately, they unwrapped the baby and after a quick bath sent it to the police.

The baby is currently being monitored at the Atebubu Government Hospital.

The police have mounted a manhunt for the mother of the baby.
