Dozens escape as bus catches fire near KNUST Police Station

Over 60 passengers have escaped unhurt after a Metro Mass Transit bus caught fire in the Ashanti Regional capital Monday night.

The passengers were on their way from Kejetia to Agya Prayer Camp, a popular prayer center at Ejisu-Adadientem run by the Church of Pentecost.

The fire reportedly started at about 18:20 hrs when the bus with registration number GS 3611 Z, reached a section of the road behind the KNUST Police Station, according to a police report.

Fire crew were called to the scene at about 19:00 hrs and brought the blaze under control in less than an hour. The passengers, numbering 62, were led to safety, the police report stated.

“Nobody was injured”, an officer at the scene told dailymailgh.com. “However the bus was burnt beyond repairs”.
