Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC rallied from a goal down to defeat Dream FC at the Accra Sports Stadium with three late goals on Saturday afternoon.

The Red and Whites outfit secured a hard earned 3-1 comeback win over the Still Believe Boys in their opening game of 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season.

The game was fairly balanced in the first half with both teams showing glimpses of brilliance on one or two occasions.

Ghana International forward Abdul Fatawu Issahaku was a constant threat to Kotoko’s defense and caused them problems throughout the first 45 minutes of the match.

He broke the deadlock of the match to put the hosts 1-0 up in the second half after a goalless stalemate in the first half with a brilliant finish.

Three late goals from Mudasiru Salifu, Isaac Oppong and Richmond Lamptey turned the game on its head for Kotoko to secure first win of the season.

Kotoko almost shot themselves into the lead when a shot from Stephen Amankonah was saved by Dreams goalkeeper Akwasi Agbesi by the ninth minute.

Fabio Gama nearly scored the opener when he cut in from the right side of the attack and sent in a powerful shot but his effort was well dealt with by the dreams goalkeeper.

Issahaku’s 63rd minute strike for Dreams looked enough to steal all three points for the Green and Whites until the last minutes of the match.

Kotoko equalized through Mudasiru Salifu after 85 minute before Isaac Oppong made it 2-1 two minutes later after setting up Mudasiru for the equalizer.

Former Inter Allies playmaker Richmond Lamptey sealed the win for Kotoko deep in additional time with a thunderbolt strike.

The Porcupine Warriors are top of the league table and will face Bechem United next at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium next weekend.
