The rescue operations at the collapsed Church of Prosperity building at Akyem Batabi in the Eastern has ended with 30 bodies retrieved out of which 8 persons survived.

The Director-General of NADMO, Eric Nana Agyemang Prempeh led the rescue team made up of the military, Police, Fire Service, and NADMO.

Speaking to the media Agyemang Prempeh described the tragedy as worrying. “It is too bad. So, I want to appeal to the Assemblies to wake up…it is so sad but what can we do?”

“On this note, we want to take this opportunity and close this search and rescue operations officially,” he added.

The three-storey residential building in the Asene/Manso/Akroso District collapsed on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, while most worshippers were resting after a prayer session.

More than 60 people were estimated to be in the building at the time.

Almost all the victims found by the rescue team after 24 hours of the incident are dead, an indication that many victims trapped under the rubbles are giving up the ghost as their rescue delays, reports Starrfm.com.gh

Meanwhile, the Founder of the Church Of Prosperity, Prophet Isaac Ofori, popularly known as Akoa Isaac, is assisting the Akyem Oda Divisional Police Command to investigate the incident.
