The Electoral Commission (EC) has addressed public concerns about the release of ballot statistics ahead of the printing process for the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections. In its response, the EC assured the public that the printing of ballot papers has not yet begun.

According to the EC’s statement, the printing of Notices of Poll for both elections is set to start on Friday, October 11, 2024. However, the actual printing of ballot papers will only take place after ballot statistics are shared with candidates, political parties, and printing houses.

The Commission emphasized its commitment to transparency, stating, “As has always been the case, the Commission will provide ballot statistics to the Candidates/Political Parties and all Printing Houses before the printing of ballot papers starts.”

They also reaffirmed that the printing will only commence once all stakeholders have received the necessary information, adding, “The Commission will not depart from this practice.”

In its closing remarks, the EC urged the public and stakeholders to have confidence in its ability to conduct a transparent, credible, and fair election in December 2024, saying, “We urge the Public and all Stakeholders to trust the Electoral Commission to deliver a transparent, credible, free and fair election in December 2024.”
