The Electoral Commission (EC) has clarified that issues related to the serialisation of ballot papers were identified and reported by its own team stationed at the printing house, with confirmation from the Commission’s Audit Department.

According to the EC, no political party, formally or informally, raised concerns about the serialisation issues during the printing process, despite having their agents present at the facility.

The Commission emphasized that the decision to reprint the ballot papers for the Ahafo and Volta regions was informed solely by internal reports. Addressing claims that its response might have been influenced by a report from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the EC firmly denied this.

“It is important for the public to know that the challenges with serialisation were brought to the attention of the Commission by the EC Team stationed at the said printing house and also confirmed by the Audit Department of the Commission,” the EC stated.

The Commission further stressed: “No political party, whether formally or informally, notified the Commission about the challenges with serialisation at the printing house, even though their agents were present throughout the process.”

Reiterating its position, the EC concluded: “The decision to dispose of the printed ballot papers was based solely on reports from the EC Team at the said printing house and confirmed by its Audit Department.”
