The United Progressive Party (UPP) is calling for sanctions as it accuses the Electoral Commission (EC) of deliberate padding of registration figures.

The EC has admitted error publishing the number of persons who registered in some constituencies including Offinso North, Afigya Sekyere East, Juaben and Afigya Kwabre North all in the Ashanti region.

The Commission explained that all published figures remain provisional until the fully audited voter register is published after the mass registration exercise.

The Founder of the UPP, Akwasi Addai Odike however contends the error can only be a calculated ploy of the EC to play the cards unfairly in the December elections.

Mr. Akwasi Addai insisted, “The EC boss should bow her head in shame and resign. It is never in our history that the EC will pad figures and come out to accept all these figures. It was a diabolic tactic to push more ballot papers into the ballot box during the upcoming elections.”

He argued, “They were padding the figures in order to give room for ballot stuffing during the upcoming elections and if the EC boss has admitted, it is an exhibit to prove my point that she is not in charge.”

Mr. Akwasi Addai is also pointing fingers at the Chair of the Commission Jean Mensah for what he deems intimidation of party’s that oppose decisions of the commission.

He alleged that the Electoral Commission Chair was behind infiltrating his party with persons creating the impression that his party is in a state of confusion.
