Former Eastern Regional Women Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Fati Vondolie, has given her strong endorsement for the re-election of Abena Osei-Asare as the Member of Parliament for Atiwa East in the Eastern Region.
She believes Osei-Asare’s impeccable track record in the constituency makes her the most suitable candidate to retain the seat for the party in the upcoming parliamentary primaries scheduled for January 27, 2024.
Interacting with delegates during an end-of-year meeting on Saturday (23 December), Vondolie, who also serves as the Eastern Regional Coordinator at the Ghana School Feeding Programme, stressed that Osei-Asare’s re-election would contribute to increasing Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s votes in the constituency during the general elections in December 2024.
“This is an MP who has resourced the majority of constituents and I can attest to that. The massive infrastructure she has initiated is firming up with some completed and these projects and initiatives are there for people to see. I have been serving this party for decades and I know what I am talking about.
“I have been chastising most of the sitting MPs in the Eastern Region regarding infrastructure and I must say you are blessed to have a visionary MP. As you go to the polls, please be guided. But I daresay that it will be politically suicidal for NPP in Atiwa East if she is not retained,” she noted.
For her part Abena Osei-Asare used the occasion to account to the people with the assurance that more of such projects are in the offing.
NPP Primaries
Deputy Finance Minister Abena Osei-Asare has officially announced her intention to contest the upcoming parliamentary primaries in the Atiwa East Constituency in the Eastern Region.
This comes after some youth groups, in an inspiring act of generosity, took the initiative to sponsor the sitting MP’s candidacy, going so far as to pay for her filing fees.
In a recent Facebook post Osei-Asare expressed her gratitude and overwhelming emotions towards the community’s gesture.
She further acknowledged the efforts of the “phenomenal men and women” and the dedicated market women who not only secured her parliamentary nomination forms but also covered the filing fee.
“Your actions reflect the strength and kindness of our community, and I am deeply touched by your belief in my service and commitment to our beloved Atiwa East”, the post read.
She expressed her excitement to continue the journey of growth and development in Atiwa East, a testament to her unwavering dedication to the welfare of the constituency.
“Your support has been my fuel, and I humbly ask once again for your trust and vote. Together, let’s strive for a brighter future and a more prosperous Atiwa East.”
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) opened nominations for individuals vying to represent the party in constituencies with sitting Members of Parliament.
Parliamentary primaries in these constituencies are scheduled for January 27, 2024. It is the last internal election ahead of the 2024 polls.
Deputy General Secretary Prof. Haruna Mohammed in an interview stated that the necessary steps have been taken, with forms ready for distribution. He also mentioned the forthcoming announcement of vetting committees after the submission of forms on December 25.
