Kumasi Mayor Sam Pyne has voiced confidence in a high voter turnout for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming general elections, attributing it to strong grassroots support for the party’s presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
During an interview on Eyewitness News on Monday, November 4, Pyne shared his optimism for the NPP’s performance in the Ashanti Region, highlighting the enthusiastic reception Dr. Bawumia has received across communities.
“The warmth and backing for Dr. Bawumia are clear signs of solid grassroots commitment to the NPP’s vision for the country,” he remarked.
Drawing on his years of experience, Pyne added, “I have been a regional secretary for 12 years, I am a grassroots person. I go down, and as the mayor of Kumasi, I engage with the people directly. I know we are going to come out in millions to vote for the NPP in the election.”
Pyne dismissed claims of superficial support, noting, “When you see people leaving their homes, running over to meet the vice president, you can’t tell me it’s mere fan-fool respect.”
With a political background dating back to 1992, he affirmed his ability to sense genuine support, stating, “I can read the eyes and feelings of the people. I know the difference between organic and inorganic support, and I am telling you, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is going to be the president of the Republic of Ghana come January 2025.”
