The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Kwetey, has delivered a stern message, emphasizing that electoral malpractices will not go unpunished.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Mr. Kwetey warned those involved in election irregularities, signaling that accountability would be sought after the expected transition of power on January 7. “Electoral crimes have no expiry date. After January 7, the time of reckoning will come,” his post read.
The statement comes as the Electoral Commission (EC) continues the re-collation of results for nine disputed constituencies. The exercise is being conducted at the EC’s regional office in Accra, with results for seven constituencies already declared.
All seven constituencies—Ahafo Ano North, Techiman South, Ahafo Ano South West, Nsawam Adoagyiri, Obuasi East, Okaikwei Central, and Tema Central—have been declared in favor of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Mr. Kwetey’s comments underline the NDC’s intention to challenge what they see as electoral irregularities, vowing to pursue justice even after the immediate post-election period. “The time of reckoning” signals the party’s determination to hold individuals and institutions accountable for any perceived violations of Ghana’s electoral laws.
