Ex-convict remanded for stabbing to death a 25-year-old man

An ex-convict is standing trial after after he allegedly stabbed a 25-year-old man at Ejura in the Ghana’s Ashanti Region.

A court has since remanded the 22-year-old man named as Kofi Appiah into custody, police said in a statement.

The suspect was said to have engaged the yet-to-be identified victim in a fight at Ejura over GHS 1000 on Wednesday, May 1, 2019.

The Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command said the suspect went into hiding until he was arrested by the police on Wednesday, October 1, 2019.

The identity of the victim, however, remains unclear as police appeal to the public to help locate his family.

Images sent by the police saw the deceased who is dark in complexion with a thin nose —lying with his face upward and had sustained multiple knife wounds.

“Anyone who has a relative who left who left home around the said date and has since not returned or heard of and fits the description should contact the Ejura District Police Command”, the police indicated.

The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Mampong Government Hospital for preservation.
