German-born Ghanaian defender Marcel Appiah has joined relegated Bundesliga 3 side VFR Aalen as a free agent.
Appiah, 31, last season played for American second tier outfit Birmingham Legion where he only made three appearances and was released this summer.
The veteran right-back is expected to aid Aalen’s early return to the German third league with his huge experience.
Born to a Ghanaian father and an Italian mother in the German city of Schwelm, Appiah who has played for clubs including Schalke, Bochum, Arminia Bielefield, and Dutch side NEC is yet to be capped by any of these countries at international level.
