Exclusive: Ghana target Gakpo out of Netherlands-Cyprus qualifier due to malaria

Dutch Under 21 star of Ghanaian descent Cody Gakpo will not play a part on Tuesday when the Young Orange host Cyprus in a 2021 European qualifier.

Dailymailgh.com can exclusively reveal that Gakpo who is also on the wanted list of the Black Stars of Ghana left camp on Saturday for home due to Malaria and will not feature in the game.

Gakpo, 20,  has been in fine form for PSV this season scoring twice and providing two assists in 10 games in all competitions.

The winger has already been watched by Dutch senior national team manager Ronald Koeman.

He becomes the second Dutch player of Ghanaian origin to pull out of the game after Myron Boadu also left camp on Thursday due to injury.
