The Secretary-general for world football governing body FIFA has congratulated Ghana’s new Football Association boss Kurt Okraku.

Madam Fatma Samoura tweeted: “Congratulations Kurt on your new role as Ghana FA President. I’m looking forward to working with you and your team to develop football in Ghana.”

Samoura is now serving at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as the Auditor appointed by FIFA to assist in the day-to-day administration of African Football.

A worthy winner

Meanwhile, Ghanaian leader Nana Akufo-Addo has also congratulated Mr. Okraku, describing him as a “worthy winner.”

Akufo-Addo took to his Twitter account to send his congratulatory message, saying: “I extend warm congratulations to Mr. Kurt E. S. Okraku on his election as the 24th President of the Ghana Football Association. He has earned the confidence and trust of the football fraternity, and his victory is well-deserved.”

According to the first gentleman of Ghana, football is the heartbeat of the nation and therefore all football administrators and stakeholders should come together to work with Mr. Okraku to ensure that Ghana football rises to the highest level.

“Football remains the passion of our nation, and I urge all to rally behind him in realising his vision for the growth and development of #Ghana football”, he added.

Okraku replaces former president of the association Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi who has been banned for life by FIFA.

Okraku becomes the second president and the 24th head of the Ghanaian football powerhouse.
